All newsThe use of fibrin-containing plasma products enriched with platelet growth factors is a topical topic in dentistry due to their high regenerative properties, therefore, a practicing dentist needs to know their properties and actively use them in the treatment of diseases of the maxillofacial area. The purpose of this article is to provide basic knowledge about this effective procedure.
The plasma therapy procedure is safe and as comfortable as possible, because the main and only active ingredient is the patient’s own blood. This method eliminates possible allergic reactions, individual intolerance and other factors that are inevitable when choosing a pharmaceutical drug. The resulting product has unique properties: it triggers the processes of regeneration, tissue restoration of the body, normalizes metabolism and microprocesses in the plasma injection zone, and activates the process of collagen production and synthesis.
PRF provides natural support for the process of tissue restoration – bone and soft, while significantly reducing the period of epithelial cell regeneration after surgical intervention.
PRF – (Platelet Rich Fibrin) literally sounds like “platelet-enriched fibrin”. Actually, it is the patient’s own fibrin, enriched with its own growth factors.
Fibrin-containing preparations are available in 2 versions:
– PRF clot (membrane)
– PRF in injectable form (liquid fibrin)
PRF clot (membrane) is a fibrin matrix containing platelets enriched with growth factors. They will be released on the wound surface and accelerate the healing process.
Fibrin clot is used in various dental procedures:
Fibrin clots are especially indicated for patients:
PRF-clot allows:
PRF – fibrin in liquid injectable form, enriched with platelets. A liquid enriched with platelets, leukocytes, lymphocytes, monocytes, neutrophils, which is used as an injectable material both in dentistry and in regenerative medicine and biostimulation to promote the resorption of cicatricial changes, as well as for the prevention of dystrophic changes.
Using injectable PRF:
PRF obtaining protocol:
1. Blood is collected in a MM Medic test tube for fibrin, 10 ml. If it is necessary to obtain a clot, then in a test tube with a red cap, if – an injection form, then in a test tube with a white cap;
2. Centrifugation. (MM Medic centrifuge)
– for clot 2500 rpm -12 minutes;
– for injectable fibrin 2000 rpm -5 minutes
3. After centrifugation, the clot is carefully removed from the tube and separated intoerythrocyte clot. And the injectable fibrin is taken with a syringe from a test tube.
4. PRF clot can be used as a membrane or in combination with a bone graft to be placed in the surgical area. PRF injection form can be injected into the selected area using a 30G injection needle.
Conclusion:
– the procedure is harmless, it has no side effects, since the drugs are obtained from the person’s own blood, without adding any chemicals;
– it is a safe procedure, without the risk of allergies or infections;
– growth factors are activated as a result of physiological processes similar to the wound healing process, the same cells are concentrated in the place where healing is required;
– the above-mentioned growth factors are released gradually over 7 days – this means that at the site of surgical manipulation, the growth of blood vessels is constantly stimulated and healing.
